What an arts facility is for
A gallery is a building before it is anything else, and most of what makes a space good or bad for art has nothing to do with taste. It is the ceiling height and whether a large work can be brought through the door. It is whether the floor will take a heavy piece. It is whether the light is consistent through the day, and whether the humidity stays within the range that paper and canvas tolerate.
These are unglamorous questions and they are the ones we are responsible for. An exhibitor should be thinking about the work, not about whether the wall will hold it.
What we do not do
We are a facilities operator. We do not represent artists, deal in works, value them, or curate what is shown.
That separation is deliberate. An operator who also deals has an interest in what gets exhibited, and the people hiring the space are entitled to know that we do not.
What is shown in our rooms is chosen by whoever has hired them, subject only to the law and to the terms of hire.
